The nearest ski resort to Dumenza is San Bernadino in Switzerland, 1608 above sea level. It is just hour and 20 minutes' drive away, depending on traffic. If you go on a Saturday it's best to go via Luino and drive up Lake Maggiore as there is a market at Ponte Tresa on Saturday which causes a lot of traffic.

It lies at to top of a long spectacular valley, in the canton of the Grisons. San Bernadino lies right at the.end of the valley. In the winter there are learner slopes children and family slopes as well as slopes for more accomplished skiers.

As well as Alpine skiing there is also Nordic skiing with runs around the village. During spring, summer and autumn there are plenty of walks and the mountains are beautiful. When you drive though the tunnel after San Bernadino you will find yourself in German speaking Switzerland.
